Help Patch Adams – Gemstone Candles

I recently touched on the Gemstone Candles that we made on our Kin’s Domain to help support Patch Adams’ efforts and to illustrate how to create a home based income from a rural setting. Well, although we’ve already taken a few orders from friends and the Hemp, Inc. extended family, we are about ready to start marketing. The following testimonial that we published on HelpPatch.com shows one lucky person’s reaction when she lit the candle:

“My gemstone candle had only melted a quarter down when a big, dark object caught my eye. I blew out the candle and dug my finger into grab it. As I was working on getting it out, I felt another hard object. I pulled out the dark object which happened to be a big smoky quartz, shaped into a perfect rectangle. Every time I put my fingers back in to grab something, I kept bumping into another hard object. “Another one?” I thought, excitedly. That kept happening until I had two blue topazes, the smoky quartz, and two other crystals laid out in front of me. What an awesome surprise! I haven’t even burned my candle all the way down yet! I know it’s a little hard to believe, but we really loaded these candles up! We’d met Joe, our Brazilian Gem connection, at the Tucson Rock and Gem show in Tucson last year. Joe, who has been in the gemstone world for many decades, was at the show to sell his wares and help some of his friends wholesale their gemstones by being a “middleman”. His industry connections always were on the lookout for new products or good values. An interesting individual, Joe turned us on to the virtues of red palm oil and interestingly enough told us that it was unavailable in Brazil, where coconuts grew abundantly but were used for other purposes. He had to get his supply in America! Joe showed us some semi-precious gemstones – Amethyst, Topaz, Citrine and Peridot that were lasercut in designs that we’d never seen before – the snowflakes, for example, were stunning. We bought a few for our significant others because they were so unusual.

So when the candle concept arrived, and Joe happened to be in the States, he came for a visit. We struck a bargain for an assorted lot of his gemstones, and set up production. It was a lot of fun learning the process, getting the correct size and diameter Hemp Wicks, and pouring the soy wax.
