The countries where it is legal, should produce a fiber board made of hemp that is fire retardent and pest resitent, if they did this less trees would be cut down. Henry Ford built a car body out of hemp, think if we had run with the idea what could be done

    • sashaloo says:

Ah yes, the things we could have done.. maybe still can. This idea of yours is pretty amazing so don’t think there wouldn’t be many to help fuel the hemp fire of your thought. I wouldn’t count on America to do the right thing if it ever became legal to grow since tax-happy groups that run this country could eat your profits alive. So, do your research on property overseas (I agree it’s unfortunate for those of us who try like hell to strengthen this country). Perhaps find lumber companies abroad willing to indulge in new machinery that gives the plant construction purpose after harvest. Too bad These United States of America couldn’t get a handle on this considering from planting to manufacturing to the kitchen table would create so many jobs and wise spending. Don’t be afraid to simply ask questions to those who many have influence on getting such projects up and running. Seek out an understanding of what you’re capable of. It’s a matter of picking up the phone to push that ball and make it roll. Keep your thoughts posted. You may find eyes are reading with intent to bring a reality long overdue.

Hi, I am trying to find out how far we are with regard to growing hemp commercially in South Africa. I don’t seem to be able to get any answers. Help.
    Regards shirley

    • Josh Davis says:

I believe South Africa has the same sort of laws regarding hemp as the US.
According to one site – “Hemp is still a regulated crop in South Africa and cannot be imported into or grown in South Africa.” I’ve written to a business owner in SA and will let you know what they say.

    • Josh Davis says:

Shirley – I spoke with my contact in South Africa.

      According to her:
In fact we can only grow under license .. and then only for research purposes.

The Licenses are managed and issued .. by the Medicinal Control Council.

So it seems they have a similar structure to the US.
Keep lobbying! And get in contact with South Africa Hemp companies Like Hempton’s and Hemporium and see if they have a community forum there.

the car you speak of i belive was build by the ford motor company and was also fuled with a hemp bio fuel.

  • Josh Davis says:

Interesting, if you go on Ford’s History Website they say the car was made from Soybeans, but I have also heard he built the body of the car out of hemp… is Ford hiding something?

  • Chris says:

It is also legal for individuals to grow it in the Czech Republic.

  • mary chapman says:

Our Federal government over steps it’s boundries. They are not to govern each state. They are to take care of our borders. That’s it. They have no right to tell each state what to do. Therefore, they are not allowed to tell them they can’t grow and sell hemp.

    • Rebecca Smith says:

YOU SAID IT!! There is NO logical reasonable explanation for the banning of growing hemp NONE. One of the main reasons they don’t want it in the U.S. is because the COTTON INDUSTRY is so powerful. They are the main lobby group against hemp. Hemp is cheaper, more durable, and can grow almost anywhere – cotton can’t. It’s all about the money for big bucks industry, and the rest of us can just shrivel up and die in the corner.

Why isn’t alabama Not Legalized yet?

  • Chiang Rai Ken says:

I’m an American residing in Thailand. Thais copy US drug laws, so no hemp grown here. Yet it would be smart if the governments of US and Thailand allowed its farmers to grow it. The reasons for legalizing it are too numerous to list here.

  • acehack1 says:

We have a picture of a Hemp farmer on every United States One Dollar bill.

  • Durango says:

The ongoing obsurb ban on farmers not growing HEMP is unbelievable. Our government really needs to pull “head outta a$$” We need some serious cleaning house in Washington. We need to blame ourselves for voting in IDIOTS…
